Beetroot – clean beetroot and boil in salted water until tender. Heat oven to 100 degrees and pop jars in to heat through. Once tender place beetroot in a sink of cold water keeping the water. Using the measurements 1 cup water ( use the saved boiled juices alternately ) 1 cup vinegar 1 cup sugar. Place in saucepan and bring to boil dissolving the sugar. Using a sharp knife carefully peel beetroot skin off.

Slice thinly and place in hot jars. Using the fluids as above pour over hot beetroot in jars making sure you go right to the top and beetroot is covered. Use a knife and gently run it down to the bottom inside the jar this releases the air bubbles. Top up with more water mixture. Place lids on hot jars and seal.

Homemade Laundry Liquid.

Place half a bar of natural soap, grated in a saucepan with 1.5 litres of water and heat until saop dissolves. Stir in 1/2 cup of washing soad and 50 g of borax.

Stir for a few minutes until thickened. Remove from heat. Add 1 litre of hot water to a bucket and add soap mixture. Stir well. Fill bucket with another 5 litres of hot water and and mix well.

Makes 7.5 litres. Keep in air tight container. Use 1/2 cup per average load. ** Do not use utensils that are for cooking**

I also use essential oils like lavender or Eucalyptus and Orange. It does become thick over night but a good shake sorts it out.
